New Beaver Colony!!

With a large number of young people on our Beaver waiting lists, back in mid-February we held an Open event and invited young people and their parents to join us to experience for themselves the fun and adventure Scouting can be.  Our Beaver Leaders David & Alison along with Claire from the Cub Leader team ran games & activities (including back woods cooking) and a great morning was had by all.

Seeing the fun that was had, a number of parents came forward to offer help. Over the following 4 weeks, with the support from Leaders from Kent County Scout Team & Jeff our Scout Leader, both the young people & adults had further opportunity to experience more fun through Scouting & for the adult volunteers an insight into being part of a leadership team by planning & running some of the colonies activities.

Over the Easter break we got together with the Adult volunteers and I am really pleased to say that they all wished to continue as part of the Leader Team & carry forward the opening of a new, second Beaver Colony in Marden.  The new Team had lots of great ideas for future activities & put together a fun & exciting programme for the coming months for our new Beaver members holding their first night as a new Colony last week.

I am sure you will join me in wishing our new Beavers and their Leader Team all the success for the future and welcome them to Marden Scout Group.

Yours in Scouting
