Working Party- 3rd November (+ free bacon butties!) By mardenscouts on 14th October 2018 In Beavers, Cubs, Featured, News, Scouts, Uncategorized / 0 comments Dear Parents & Friends of Marden Scout Group Earlier in the year we noticed that the wall at the rear of the grounds required some attention as the top brick courses were loose. We looked at getting this attended to by building companies but even the cheapest quotes would have made a significant dent into the Scout Group Funds. One of our Leader team’s partners is a brick layer by trade and has very kindly offered to help however the work needed will require more than his pair of hands. We will be holding a working party on Saturday 3rd November from 8.30 am. The aim of this working party is to take down the top 4 / 5 courses of bricks and clean off any old mortar that is on the bricks, in readiness for them to be re-used / re-relayed in the repair of the wall (this will keep expenses down). The help of volunteers with any knowledge / tackled similar would be appreciated however it is a relatively straight forward DIY job so really only eagerness to help is the only skill needed! The more volunteers we have the quicker and easier the job will be to complete. We would hope with enough help that we would be finished by lunchtime. We would ask that volunteers please bring their own tools (hammers, chisels, bolsters, work gloves, protective eye wear), and dress appropriately for the work / weather. If you own a wheelbarrow, these would be handy to have available, similarly we will need a number of step ladders / ladders / platform to work from. The Scout Troop will be camping at the HQ over the weekend and will be providing Bacon butties & hot drinks to all our volunteers. If you are able to help, please can you e-mail Mattmitchellxv@gmail.com by Thursday 25th October. If you have a wheelbarrow, ladders / platform can you please make him aware in your message. (or if you have any special dietary requirements). Please do not assume that others will volunteer, we do need help from all. If we do not get sufficient volunteers, we will have to employ builders and spend the Scout Group’s hard-earned funds. Yours in Scouting Kieran Group Scout Leader GSL@mardenscouts.org.uk Tweet Tweet
