Latest Update – March 2021 By mardenscouts on 14th March 2021 In Beavers, Cubs, Featured, News, Scouts / 0 comments I hope that this update finds you and your families well and filled with a greater sense of optimism that we are now nearing the end of lockdown restrictions and that we can soon return to normality. Whilst the pandemic has dragged on for far longer than any of us could have predicted a year ago it is really pleasing to see how Marden Scout Group has adapted to ensure as many of our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts as possible can continue to meet, albeit virtually. Our leaders have been innovative and have adapted to holding on line meetings, something that was foreign to most this time last year; I’m sure you will join me in thanking them for their hard work, resilience and sheer dedication to providing our young people with continuity and connection to the group. As we now look to the future and the resumption of face-to-face meetings, we need to realise that the virus is still amongst us and that we need to continue to be vigilant and ensure that both our members and leader teams remain safe. Whilst the NYA/Scout Association guidance will change as we move through the Governments roadmap out of lockdown, national restrictions will still mean severe limitations around our meeting indoors, and even outdoor meetings will continue to be subject to limited numbers & social distancing. Therefore, with this in mind the Executive Committee have taken the decision that Marden Scout Group will continue to meet virtually and regularly review our return to face to face meetings. Our section leaders will continue to offer both off line activities and online meetings as regularly as they possibly can, but this will vary from section to section. While we recognise that on line meetings are not for everyone, they are a great way for our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to meet one another and enjoy some scouting fun. As I am sure you are aware national restrictions are planned to end 21st June and all being well a return to “normal” Scouting. Given that we would normally break up for the summer holidays, the Executive Committee have decided to continue the suspension of monthly subs payments until September. We will keep you updated on the Executive Committees reviews of our return to face-to-face meetings but in the meantime if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us on GSL@Mardenscouts.org.uk.
